foods that will give you energy when you get up early in the morning

In learning how to get up early, sometimes it is necessary to give yourself an extra incentive to get out of bed and get your energy for the day in order to power through while feeling well rested and energized.  Keeping this in mind, there are five foods you should add to your diet to give you energy in the morning.  Not only that, but planning your breakfast menu in advance lets you look forward to these nourishing and energizing foods, prompting you to get up early and look forward to your day.

 Eggs

Being a very simple and inexpensive food, they are high in protein that gives your body long-lasting energy.  They are also very versatile in recipes that can give you a really fast and enjoyable breakfast when you get up early while serving their purpose as a power food.  Suggested consumption is about three times a week, or even everyday if you use an egg substitute that is low in fats and cholesterol while still providing the needed protein.

Cereals and Grains

Whole grains are the best to choose, and they provide the carbohydrates that get you moving fast when you get up early.  The body processes carbohydrates into different sugars that your body burns quickly, unless you eat too much of them.  So a word of caution:  moderation is the key in getting your energy needs met while preventing fat storage of unneeded carbohydrates.  A daily dose of whole grain breads or cereals gives you fast energy to burn during your morning hours and well into your lunch hour.

If you are like I am, I get tired of my morning cereal becoming stale and non-crunchy. After few days kept in the plastic bag, my morning cereal loses its crispiness, so I recommend checking out this nice and easy solution to keep your cereal crispy and fresh

Fruits

Not only is fruit refreshing in the morning, but provides natural sugars and vitamins that your body needs for optimal energy.  Fruit tends to “wake” the taste buds as well as nourishing the body when you get up early.  Fresh fruits are always best, but dried fruits such as prunes or raisins will also provide a benefit, as will a can of preserved fruit.  Be sure that the processed fruit is stored in its own juices with no artificial syrups or sugars added in order to get the best benefit.  Fruits can be consumed daily in moderate amounts to pump up your energy level.

When you have to get up early and you don’t have much time to peel the fruits and mess with all the fuss around it, there is a perfect idea – make yourself some vitamin-packed fruit juice.

It will save you time and the result will be quick, easy and even tastier.

Dairy Foods

Dairy foods contain natural proteins, vitamins, and necessary lipid fats that not only power your body as you get up early, but give strength to your bones and muscles with the calcium they contain.  Different mild cheeses, milk, and yogurt are popular for breakfast foods, giving you a boost of energy to start your day as well as lasting throughout your day to prevent a tired feeling later in the afternoon.  Dairy foods can be consumed daily to start your day and keep your body healthy.

Here is a tip for when you get up early. Yogurt is a good no-cook breakfast option and is also an excellent source of calcium and protein. I found a great book on yogurt which has a fantastic yogurt recipe collection. When you get up early and you need to prepare a fast breakfast, this book

will provide some great ideas.

Meats

Meat products are known for their protein content, feeding your energy level as well as building muscle and bone strength.  The type of fats in meat is processed by the body differently than some other proteins, so care should be taken in the amount of fat the meats contain. A great source of morning protein can be, for example, ham or turkey slices on a whole wheat bread with slices of tomato.

As with any foods, and especially when you get up early, it is important to consume them in the proper amounts in order to prevent weight gain while giving you the energy you need to enjoy your day without that dragging feeling.  Mix and match these foods, and get creative with a breakfast menu that will excite you in your morning time while getting you powered up for your day.
